Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the Project-Based Learning (PBL) method on the English communication skills of students at SMK Puspa Bangsa Banyuwangi. The research aims to determine whether the implementation of PBL can significantly enhance students' speaking, listening, and overall communicative abilities in English. Using a quasi-experimental design, two groups of students were selected: an experimental group taught using the PBL method and a control group using traditional instructional methods. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments, as well as classroom observations and student feedback. The results indicate that students in the experimental group demonstrated a marked improvement in their English communication skills compared to the control group. The study concludes that PBL is an effective pedagogical approach for vocational students, fostering not only language proficiency but also critical thinking and collaboration. These findings suggest that incorporating PBL into English language curricula could significantly benefit students in enhancing their communicative competence, especially in a vocational education context.
